The Battenkill Angler makes it possible to learn
the art and science of fly fishing in the classical tradition
of by-gone eras. Personalized programs are tailored to fit the
needs of students. From the beginning fly fisher who needs to
learn the basics of the sport in a fun, demystified progression,
to the seasoned angler looking to learn new waters without wasting
precious time trying to locate “Hot Spots”, we customize each
day to your individual needs and goals.
The Battenkill Angler's focus is on teaching the techniques,
strategies and tactics for taking trout, as well as the secrets
of some of New England's finest trout rivers. Tom has an almost
fanatical devotion to the study of taking trout on artificial
flies. With an academic background in Biology, specifically
Stream Ecology and Entomology, Tom helps you experience the
science of angling for trout, and really puts you in touch with
the pulse of our rivers.
Fly fishing for trout is an ancient craft, a blend of art and
science that offers many options to the student. Many guests
are interested in fly fishing as a multi-faceted, year-round
hobby that includes fly tying and rod building. Some anglers
are just looking for a restful afternoon in pristine natural
settings of Green Mountains and crystal waters. The Battenkill
Angler can help you achieve your angling goals, whether in the
classroom or on one of our rivers.
